Lyric has been involved in some form of entertainment all of her life. Be it singing, dancing, theater acting or radio she loves arts and music. She’s originally from Brooklyn, NY with roots from Barbados & Jamaica.
Entertainment Highlights:
Lyric and her sisters grew up singing gospel music professionally in Texas. Her mother accompanied them on piano. During high school, she transitioned into singing with top 40 bands, then eventually singing pop/jazz. She was also active in theater/musicals as a singer and dancer along the way. Some highlights of her singing career included…opening for acts like George Benson, Kenny G & Ronnie Laws.
Personal Highlights:
Lyric was born into a family of 6 girls. Her parents eventually moved to Texas and brought the Harlem Renaissance with them. Their family was known as major contributor to the early cultural arts scene in El Paso, Texas. She was taught appreciation for all types of music and art, i.e., Mozart, Motown, Cannonball Adderly, Mongo Santa Maria, Willie Colon, Miriam Makeba, Nikki Giovanni, James Taylor, Crosby Stills Nash, Vikki Carr and the Last Poets just for starters.

Mahogany Soul Journey brings world music intended to get listeners to “think outside the block” and experience soul music from around the world. Artist featured…King Sunny Ade, Djavan, Angelique Kidjo and Cesaria Evora just for starters.
Mahogany Soul Objective:
Feature music and artists that aren’t getting the air-play they deserve. Her format embraces the history of soul and R&B yet Lyric finds it best to steer clear from overtones of religion & politics. Her goal is to be inclusive rather than exclusive. She welcomes any listener that has an appreciation for this type of music, regardless of race or age. She also incorporates a short history piece that pays tribute to the jazz masters (Mahogany Café). Hot Peas & Butter is another segment where they feature artist interviews, comedy, poetry or music features. Additionally, every week they take a Mahogany Soul Journey by featuring music from another part of the world. Lyric’s desire is to bring back good old fashioned family radio entertainment…even if it’s streaming online.
